Cassidy's is a real Irish bar with a bohemian atmosphere serving wholesome traditional and international food all day. There are three floors with Jazz in the basement, a piano bar and mezzanine area. There is a host of entertainment to be had with traditional Irish music being played regularly through out the week along with some of Ireland's finest musicians performing a variety of modern sounds. With function rooms available and a series of large screen and plasma TV's Cassidy's can cater to your every need. So drop in for an Irish welcome good conversation great craic and music. Cassidy's Bar, is steeped in history: As established publicans since 1856 the Cassidy family have gone on to create some of Irelands finest drinking emporiums through out the country, currently located in Westmoreland St where they own the old premises of the Freeman's Journal - the oldest national newspaper in Ireland which acted as an instrumental medium for Irish people during the 1916 rebellion. Renowned for Bill Clinton's visit in 1995. Cassidy's is owned and personally run by Bill's cousins. On his visit to Ireland in 1995, we were honoured to be invited to meet with him in Cassidy's Bar where the late Noel Cassidy and present owner, Ann Cassidy met with him. When hearing about our famous soda bread, Bill requested the recipe be sent to the White House. Subsequently, it's become a firm favourite not only on our own menu but also in the oval office. Appreciating the importance of Irish history and in particular the role played by the political insights of the Freeman's journal cassidys has very much kept alive the theme and influence of the heritage which was the journal. Historically the paper is referred to several times in James Joyce's Ulysses as is it's location Westmoreland st where Cassidy's bar is now located.
