The Left Bank.....

Intriguing spot on Anglesea named not in deference to that most cultured quarter of Paris, but rather after the former occupants of the building: the Central Bank of Ireland. Now the former beating heart of the financial district is a hip late night cocktail lounge, and the predominant currency is not reserves of gold bullion but powerful cocktails poured by friendly bar tellers, and cool retro 70s and 80s tunes. Not that all the symbols of wealth have disappeared. Sip a whiskey sour in the Vault Bar and you can gaze at gold bars on the walls and moulded coins in the ceilings and it's hard not to feel touched by the power of it all. Of course that feeling rapidly disappears when you pay for your pricey drinks, but after a few Jamesones, sidle up to the babe by the vaulted door and offer to open her account.
